CENTENARY SCHOLARSHIPS
To celebrate its Centenary, the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene has established a Centenary Fund that will be used to support short-term scholarships for practitioners or research scientists working in a developing country to improve their skills in an area that will enable them to work more effectively in their home environment. It is envisaged that scholarships might be used to learn new clinical or laboratory skills, to analyse, with expert help, the results of a study that has already been done or to obtain help in planning a new proposal.
Features of the scholarships will include the following –
- Centenary Scholarships will be available for up to a maximum of 6 months.
- Centenary Scholarships will have a maximum value of £20,000.
- Where possible, the scholarships should be held in a centre in a developing country outside the candidate’s own, which has the requisite facilities to provide the support needed.
- Each scholar will be provided with a mentor.
- Scholars will be invited to the Annual General Meeting of the Society to report on the scholarship.
