Shafiur Rahaman
Shafiur is a dedicated public health professional with extensive experience in managing and implementing public health programs and research projects across diverse disciplines, including maternal and child health, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), mental health, and health in humanitarian crises. He has worked extensively in urban and rural areas of Bangladesh, as well as in the Rohingya refugee humanitarian response in Cox’s Bazar, parts of Africa (Zambia and Uganda), the Philippines, the UK, and Australia. He has been collaborating with international organisations such as UNICEF, Action Against Hunger (ACF), Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag), Ranas, and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
His expertise includes WASH, behaviour change, program management, implementation research, study design, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder & community engagement. He has published over 20 research papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences. He also has extensive experience in teaching. Currently, he is a Distance Learning Tutor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), UK, and a Casual Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Canberra, Sydney Hills (UCSH). He is also a consultant for Research, Development, and Training at Bangladesh Academy of Dietetics and Nutrition (BADN), Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Ranas, Zurich, Switzerland.
He is also currently working as a casual academic teacher and research officer at Western Sydney University. He is pursuing his MRes-PhD at Western Sydney University in Australia. Apart from his academic positions, he is a student representative for Higher Degree Research (HDR) Students for the School of Health Sciences, Western Sydney University, and serves as secretary of the Western Sydney University Research Society.
