Adeniyi Adesola

Adeniyi Adesola is an undergraduate student of the Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery degree program (M.B;B.S) at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (COMUI), Nigeria. 

He has his interests in medical research, public health advocacy, leadership and volunteering. His enthusiasm for research stems from the paucity of data in Africa and his desire towards contributing his quota to solving this problem. 

He has his research interests in sickle cell disease, medical education and oncology. Nigeria currently has the highest burden of sickle cell disease in the world. According to the World Health Organisation, one in three children born with sickle cell disease in the world is in Nigeria. This has challenged him to lend his voice in raising awareness and to engage in research pertaining to this subject. Additionally, he desires to contribute to solving the problems plaguing medical education in his locality and the world at large. 

He's the current General Secretary of the College Research and Innovation Hub, COMUI, the Registrar of the Senate, University of Ibadan Medical Students' Association and the co-founder of The Genowise Project, a student led initiative aimed at increasing the awareness of sickle cell disease via outreaches and media campaigns; and also research oriented with the aim of contributing to the existing body of knowledge on sickle cell disease.
