Medical Director, Amsterdam Operational Centre of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

Bern-Thomas Nyang'wa, MD, MPH, is a British-Malawian Medical Director of Médecins Sans Frontières(MSF) and Chief Investigator of TB-PRACTECAL - a phase II-III MDR-TB clinical trial pivotal in change of WHO guidelines for treatment of rifampicin resistant TB. He has previously supported programmatic and clinical management of drug resistant tuberculosis with MSF, WHO and USAID in many West and Southern African countries and Central Asia. 

He is an Honorary Associate Professor in the Institute for Global Health at University College London and is completing a PhD in clinical pharmacology of TB drugs at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).  Dr Nyang’wa is a recipient of the 2022 Stephen Lawn TB/HIV Research Leadership prize and the LSHTM AMR Centre publication prize for 2022.
