Dr Marcio Roverto Silva
Researcher at Embrapa Dairy Cattle and Professor in the Postgraduate Program in Collective Health, Juiz de Fora, Brazil.
He graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Viçosa (1996). He obtained his Master’s degree in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from the same institution (1998) and his PhD in Public Health (Epidemiology of zoonotic tuberculosis) from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2011), Brazil.
He is currently a researcher at Embrapa Dairy Cattle and a professor in the Postgraduate Program in Collective Health at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, both located in Juiz de Fora, Brazil.
His work focuses on epidemiology applied to the control of zoonoses, food safety, and foodborne diseases, adopting a One Health approach. His main research interests include food safety; diagnostic methods for screening, monitoring, and traceability of pathogens and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes (resistome) in artisanal cheeses made from raw milk; and the epidemiology of tropical infectious diseases, particularly foodborne zoonoses.
