Dr Rodney Itaki

Dr Rodney Londari Itaki is a Primary Care Physician and Public Health Specialist based in American Samoa with the American Samoa Department of Health. He has over 20 years of professional experience across Papua New Guinea, the Federated States of Micronesia, and American Samoa, spanning clinical medicine, public health practice, academia, and research in resource-limited settings. 

Originally from Papua New Guinea, he qualified in Medicine at the University of Papua New Guinea and later obtained a Master of Public Health from Divine Word University. His academic interests include infectious disease surveillance, syndromic surveillance systems, outbreak preparedness and response, evaluation of diagnostic tests, and the use of routine health data to strengthen health systems. 

Dr Itaki is a Global Assessor for the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and a co-founder of a research NGO supporting early-career Pacific researchers.
