Georgina Humphreys

Infectious Diseases Scientist

Georgina is an infectious diseases scientist with a commitment to maximising the benefits from research data. She worked for many years on anti-malarial drug resistance both at UK institutions and in Tanzania at the Ifakara Health Institute. Whilst working within the Open Research team at Wellcome she led the development and implementation of the Trust’s clinical trial and data sharing policies, including transparency of results reporting and encouraging data sharing and re-use to maximise the impact of research on improving human health. Georgina then managed the Grand Challenge ICODA projects at Health Data Research UK, working directly with research teams across the world to support their secondary data analyses and maximise the impact and uptake of their work.

She is the Secretariat for an Independent Review Panel that considers applications for data access through two clinical data sharing platforms (CSDR and Vivli), and supports the work of the Design, Analyze, Communicate team at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as working with Research Consulting in an associate capacity. Since 2019 she has been a Board Director of ISRCTN (UK clinical trial registry) and is a member of the Health Research Authority ‘Make it public’ transparency group. Georgina has held a College Advisor position at Green Templeton College, Oxford since 2017.
