Lara Wragg
Lara Wragg
Lara Wragg is an undergraduate student at the University of Oxford, studying a Ba in Geography. Her particular research interests lie in the socio-environmental determinants of health outcomes, specifically infectious diseases. Her current thesis is on the application of geographical information system (GIS) tools for mapping the spatial relationships between armed conflict and malaria prevalence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her knowledge offers an interdisciplinary approach to analysing and tackling global health challenges in an increasingly uncertain global setting, accounting for the complex interplay of actors and the increasing threats of climate change in the 21st century. Lara hopes to go on to study a Masters degree in global health and international development, with a targeted focus on health policy and disease control in lower-income countries and fragile humanitarian settings. Lara hopes that her role as an RSTMH student ambassador will raise awareness of the contemporary global health challenges, and illustrate to her peers that you do not have to be a clinical doctor or medical expert to get involved in global health research.
