Photo Competition: Global Health in the Digital World

An asset which reads 'Enter our photo competition' in a blue circle, with 'Theme Global Health in a Digital World' in another blue circle. On the left hand side of the asset is a digital camera and a hand holding an iphone. On the right hand side shows photograph a young boy sitting in a boat.

Make sure to enter our photography competition, open to RSTMH members and Fellows.

The digital world is evolving at a rapid pace, and the intersection of healthcare and artificial intelligence is at the forefront of this changing landscape.

AI has transformed how health care services are delivered, from drug development to personalised medicine, to disease monitoring and surveillance.

We would like RSTMH imagery and brand to reflect how AI, machine learning, and digital technologies more generally are reshaping global health research, surveillance, and service delivery around the world.

We're looking for our members & Fellows to capture the intersection between global health and technology, and how the digital revolution – including artificial intelligence – is changing how we practice healthcare.

So, if you have a photo that you think could be relevant, submit it to our photo competition to be in with the chance to win a £200 cash prize.

Deadline: January 11, 2026.

Some of the things our judges may be looking out for:

  • Photos that are positive and empowering
  • Be active (plain backgrounds and natural light better)
  • Be high resolution to avoid pixelation/blurriness (take a range of shots, keep original files if needed for print)
  • If there is a focus on people to ensure they are portrayed in a dignified, non-exploitative way
  • Have a photojournalistic, candid feel: natural smiles, real interactions and movements
  • Have the permissions and consent of any subject to share the photo.
