Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene granted Royal Patronage by His Majesty King Charles III
Last week we received a letter from Buckingham Palace, confirming that His Majesty King Charles III will be continuing our Royal Patronage and taking up the Patronage of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. This announcement marks the one-year anniversary of His Majestys’ Coronation.
We are honoured that King Charles has chosen to be the Patron of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, showing his recognition of the importance of global health to the people of the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world, today and for the future.”
Professor Jimmy Whitworth, RSTMH President
Royal Patronage was granted following a review of all Patronages held by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Patronage of King Charles continues a long history for RSTMH dating back to the granting of the Society’s Royal Charter by His Majesty King George V in 1920. RSTMH is also immensely proud that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is an Honorary Fellow.
We are delighted that His Majesty King Charles III has chosen to take up the Patronage of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and are immensely grateful for the continued support of the Royal Family throughout our history. This support helps us enormously as we continue to tackle issues of global health and tropical medicine around the world, topics that have touched so many of our lives in recent years.”
