Laurentine Sumo
Laurentine Sumo is Associate Professor of Parasitology at the University of Ebolowa, Cameroon, and the co-founder of the Translational Research and Development Foundation (TREND Foundation), a Cameroon-based research institute, where she leads the Infectious Diseases Epidemiology & Global Health (INDEPTH) Research Group.
Her major research interests encompass the epidemiology of infectious diseases, especially distribution mapping, risk factors and transmission dynamics, monitoring and evaluation, diagnostic tools development, as well as design of novel alternative strategies for elimination of these poverty-related diseases.
Professor Sumo is a Fellow of many scientific societies, including - but not limited to - the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), the Cameroon Society of Epidemiology (CaSE), and the International Epidemiological Association (IEA). She is also involved with Women In Neglected Tropical Diseases (WINs) and the Cameroon Professional Research Oriented Women Network (CaPROWN).
