Oluwaseyi Egbewande
Oluwaseyi Egbewande is a 5th-year Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) undergraduate at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. He is an emerging public health researcher with growing interests in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), HIV/AIDS, and youth-focused health advocacy. His work centres on improving access to health information, strengthening student-led research communities, and advancing SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
Oluwaseyi’s involvement in public health began early in his undergraduate years through volunteer roles and contributions to youth-led health campaigns. He currently serves as Research Coordinator at the Alliance Against Antimicrobial Resistance (Triple A), a youth-focused organisation working to advance AMR awareness and intervention design in Nigeria, where he co-leads youth-driven projects focused on innovation in AMR. He also volunteers with the Slum and Rural Health Initiative Network (SRHIN), supporting community outreach programmes in underserved communities.
His leadership experience includes serving as the National Editor-in-Chief of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (PANS), where he managed a team of over 30 chapter editors and led national publications and student engagement initiatives reaching more than 10,000 pharmacy students. He convened the first-ever PANS National Scientific Conference, creating a platform for students to share research, policy ideas, and innovations. Oluwaseyi also completed the Millennium Campus Fellowship (Class of 2024), leading youth-driven advocacy on health and wellbeing.
Oluwaseyi’s research contributions include 10+ peer-reviewed publications with over 250 citations and 5 abstracts presented at national and international conferences, including the 70th International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya. He also co-organised the African Youth AMR Advocacy Letter Workshop, which trained young people across 12 African countries to develop evidence-based advocacy letters submitted to governmental ministries and health stakeholders.
He continues to explore ways to strengthen youth participation in public health, support emerging researchers, and promote inclusive approaches to global health engagement. His work reflects a commitment to improving health outcomes in resource-limited settings through research, advocacy, and meaningful collaboration.
