Robert Kokou Dowou

Robert Kokou Dowou is a trained Public Health Specialist and Epidemiologist based in Ghana. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, Ghana, and is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Applied Epidemiology at UHAS and Field Epidemiology resident at Ghana Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme, School of Public Health, University of Ghana, Legon- Accra, Ghana.

He has earned several specialized certifications, including Implementation Research for Diseases of Poverty (WHO TDR), Research Ethics, based on the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans, Good Clinical Practice from the NIDA Clinical Trials Network, Manage Successful Field Research, and Ethics in Evidence Generation.

His research interests span communicable and chronic non-communicable disease (CNCD) prevention and control, maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, health systems reform for low- and middle-income countries, health policy, infectious disease control, and social health insurance. He is driven by a strong commitment to equitable, high-quality healthcare delivery for underserved populations.

He has led and contributed to numerous studies in public and global health, resulting in over 60 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact international journals. As a senior collaborator with the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study, he has co-authored multiple papers within the initiative. He also serves as a peer reviewer for several reputable journals, including: PLOS ONE, BMC Public Health, SSM, Population Health, Health Economics Review, Frontiers in Public Health, among others.

Robert speaks fluent English and French and continues to champion research, policy, and practice that advance health equity across regions and populations.
