RSTMH Country Ambassador Role Application
Our Country Ambassadors are dedicated volunteers who have been members or Fellows of RSTMH for at least one year and possess a strong understanding of the Global Health and Tropical Medicine environment. Based in the countries they represent, they draw on their local expertise, knowledge, and professional networks to extend our reach and strengthen RSTMH’s presence locally. Ambassadors play a key role in promoting RSTMH within their networks, whilst providing valuable insights to help us work more effectively at a country level.

As a Country Ambassador, you will help to ensure individuals in your country benefit from the Society’s work, while keeping RSTMH informed of key developments and successes in Global Health and Tropical Medicine. You will also provide guidance on how to strengthen our networks and enhance our activities within your country. Ideally, you would serve as a Country Ambassador for a minimum of three years, allowing sufficient time to build strong relationships, establish effective networks, and maximize the impact of the role.

- Promote RSTMH and its activities within your networks through email, social media, and engagement at meetings and events.
- Provide quarterly reports on relevant developments and insights from your country, along with recommendations where appropriate.
- Help facilitate RSTMH involvement in relevant events and activities within your country where appropriate.
- Help to ensure relevant successes and challenges in Tropical Medicine and Global Health from your country are showcased through our communications channels including the website, newsletter, and social media
- Provide insights into how Global Health work in your country aligns with RSTMH strategic priorities and advise on how this alignment can be strengthened.
- Identify and share relevant contacts and organisations within your networks that may present valuable opportunities for collaboration or partnership with RSTMH.
- Contribute to succession planning by identifying and supporting potential future Country Ambassadors, ensuring continuity and sustained impact of RSTMH activities in-country.
- Establish and support national networks within your country, working in partnership with RSTMH to strengthen local engagement and collaboration.
- Participate in and contribute to Regional Meetings, where appropriate and when held within your region, supporting collaboration, knowledge exchange, and speaker selection in line with RSTMH priorities.
We also welcome your insights on how we can most effectively achieve our overall aims and objectives in global health and tropical medicine.
For most countries we will look to recruit one Country Ambassador only, however we recognise that for some countries we may need more than one and we may have joint Ambassadors or Deputy Ambassadors.
