Sahil Day
Sahil Day is a high-achieving MSci Biomedical Science student at the University of Brighton, with a growing interest in translational research and global health equity. His academic journey includes early projects in low-cost biosensor development, and he is particularly drawn to how innovation can be made accessible within resource-limited settings.
Outside the lab, Sahil leads a range of initiatives focused on science communication and inclusive representation. He is President of both the Scientific Journal Club and the People of Colour Society at his university, Outreach Lead for the NHS Blood and Transplant–funded Donor Research Team, and Academic Officer for Diversity in Medical Academia (DIMA). He also serves as a university-wide Student Ambassador, regularly engaging with prospective students and the public through outreach events.
Having experienced firsthand the health inequalities that can shape a person’s care journey, Sahil brings a personal commitment to equity alongside his academic goals. He intends to pursue graduate-entry medicine and become a clinician-scientist working at the intersection of research and real-world impact. As an RSTMH Student Ambassador, he aims to deepen the Society’s presence on campus, build interdisciplinary networks, and inspire peers to explore careers that bridge science, policy, and public health.
