Sophie Yacoub

Sophie is an associate professor of infectious diseases at the Pandemic Sciences Institute, University of Oxford. She is a Wellcome Trust Clinical Career Development Fellow and Physician in Infectious Diseases and General Medicine. She holds an honorary consultant appointment at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust in the UK. She has a PhD from Imperial College London and an MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians in London. Sophie led the dengue research group at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU-Vietnam) from 2017-2025 where she set up a large translational programme of dengue research, focusing on clinical trials, pathogenesis studies and innovative technology centered on wearable devices, physiological monitoring and utilizing AI for medical imaging and clinical decision support systems. She is now leading a global platform trial to investigate multiple therapeutics for patients with dengue.
