Now in its fifty-first year, Topics in Infection will take place in person in London and will include a drinks reception. This annual one-day meeting, is delivered as a partnership between RSTMH, Barts Health and the UK Health Security Agency. It will bring together microbiologists, infectious disease physicians, infection control personnel and biomedical and clinical scientists to hear updates on recent “hot topics” in all aspects of infectious disease. 

We are delighted to announce some of our speakers for the 51st Topics in Infection meeting in January 2026:

  • Professor Naomi Allen, Chief Scientist for UK Biobank and Professor of Epidemiology at the Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford, UK
  • Professor Tom Evans, Professor of Molecular Microbiology at the University of Glasgow and a Consultant in Infectious Disease and General Medicine for Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board
  • Professor Joe Jarvis, Professor of Tropical Medicine and International Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and Research Associate at Botswana Harvard Health Partnership
  • Professor Marc Turner, Director of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service
  • Dr Alicia Demirjian, Consultant Epidemiologist and Clinical Lead for Antimicrobial Resistance and Prescribing, UK Health Security Agency, and Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust 
  • Helen Roberts, Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, Chair of the Human-Animal Infections and Risk Surveillance (HAIRS) group
