Dr Caterina Fanello
I am the Research Director of the Kinshasa Oxford Research Medical Unit, Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo.
I am an epidemiologist and malaria expert. My work aims at reducing global health inequalities, with a focus on infectious disease prevention, control and elimination. I have long-term experience in designing and implementing epidemiological/clinical studies and public health interventions in LMICs including Challenging Operating Environments. My research focuses on Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health. My interests include ethical aspects of research in vulnerable populations, migrant’s health. I foster gender equality in academia and research.
Prior to joining The University of Oxford, I worked for many years at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. During this time, I worked on malaria diagnosis and treatment in Africa and South America.
