Eduard Sanders

Eduard Sanders is a public health doctor and a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) trained epidemiologist specialised in HIV prevention research with extensive experience in Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Africa.

His current research focuses on improving medication adherence and mental health among men who have sex with men in South Africa. He is working towards scaling this “WeCare” intervention through conversational agent–based mental health counselling tailored for populations with co-occurrence of HIV and mental health risk. He is a senior HIV prevention scientist at Aurum Institute, Johannesburg.

NIH-funding permitting, he will serve as an MPI for the R01 grant application entitled “WHO-Recommended Periodic Presumptive Treatment versus Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis for STI Control among Cisgender Men Who Have Sex with Men in Kenya”, and oversee implementation of the trial in Kenya.
