RSTMH Global Research in Progress

12:00 PM - 17:00 PM | Thursday 20 November 2025
Online

RSTMH Global Research in Progress is an online meeting designed for early-career investigators worldwide to present and discuss their unpublished research with peers and senior experts in tropical medicine and global health.

We are excited to announce our second keynote will be Professor Lorenz von Seidlein, who will be presenting "The Star Homes Project: The impact of a novel house design on transmission of childhood malaria, diarrheal diseases, and respiratory tract infections". He was the winner of the 2024 Donald Mackay Medal.

Professor von Seidlein's recent work has included malaria elimination and mass administration of antimalarial drugs in Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, mass vaccine and drug administrations in Bangladesh, and, working with colleagues from Denmark and the UK, the evaluation of health benefits of novel house designs in Tanzania.

He will join our previously announced keynote speaker, Dr Adebiyi Adeniran - a global health scientist and laboratory expert with over a decade of experience advancing diagnostics, research, and capacity development in neglected tropical diseases control programs across Africa and Latin American countries. He will be discussing his career journey and talking about the challenges, lowlights and highlights.

We will also be hearing about the exciting research of some of our network. This includes:

  • Robert Okello, who will be presenting Intersectionality of gender and lymphatic filariasis(LF) stigma: How gender dynamics amplify the impact of LF-related stigma
  • Eman Fadel, who will be presenting Serological and molecular detection of Toxoplasma Gondii among cancer patients in Sohag, Upper Egypt: a case-control study
  • Oladotun Okediji, who will be presenting Development of an Antimicrobial Stewardship Framework for Primary Healthcare Centres in Nigeria: Findings from a Crowdsourcing Open Call
  • Naomi Miall, who will be presenting Mucosal immune responses to poliovirus supplementary immunization activities in northern Nigeria: a community-based cohort study
  • Dipasha Arwal, who will be presenting Risk factors and clinical outcomes associated with drug-induced liver injury during antitubercular therapy- a prospective observational study from Jodhpur, India

This meeting is free to attend for RSTMH members and Fellows, and just £10 for non-members.
