Increase in impact factor for both RSTMH journals
With the latest impact factors having just been released, we’re delighted to announce that both our journals increased their impact factor from last year.
Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (Transactions) has increased from 2.279 in 2016 to 2.820 in 2017.
From sixth last year, Transactions is now in fifth position in the global Tropical Medicine category and is the highest ranked general tropical medicine title (see table below).
Our other journal, International Health, has increased from 1.784 to 1.797.
Crucial part of RSTMH's work and history

Through our journals we aim to showcase the research, successes and challenges in tropical medicine and global health around the world, from institutions, NGOs and industry.
We also plan to analyse the content of our journals, along with data from our other activities, to inform us of the global picture of progress and help us influence policy and practice.
Publishing and disseminating authoritative, impactful and original research and discussion is one of the main elements of our new five-year strategy, and a crucial part of us achieving impact for our members and supporters. I’m delighted that the hard work of everyone involved has been recognised.”
Cutting edge research

"I’m pleased to report the impact factor for International Health has improved slightly over the last year and this is positive news as we move forward.
We launched the journal in September 2009 as a dedicated home for global health research and discussion. Its scope includes the social and economic aspects of communicable and non-communicable diseases, health systems research, policy and implementation, the evaluation of disease control programmes and healthcare delivery solutions.
Over the coming years we will work to increase our rate of progress on this crucial parameter to further the aims of RSTMH. I see this as my key objective in taking on the role as Editor-in-Chief of the journal and look forward to working with authors, editors and reviewers to achieve this."

We regularly publish themed collections of articles through special issues, supplements and article series.
The supplement “Onchocerciasis: The Beginning of the End”, was published in March 2018 in partnership with the Mectizan Donation Program.
We also have two upcoming special issues of Transactions. The first celebrates our new strategy, by looking back at some of the most seminal papers in our priority areas from our journal archives. It then brings them up to the current time with commentaries from some of the most esteemed professionals and researchers in our field.
The second is being published on neglected tropical diseases and their intersections, capturing the output and impact of our Annual Meeting in September.
Both journals have a dedicated Editor-in-Chief and an editorial board to steer the strategic direction and quality of the journal.
We offer advanced online publication, full PubMed/Medline indexing for all articles. Additionally, we have specific support for research from low and middle-income countries.
